Hi Friends.png

I'm Ashley, a thirty-something, wellness enthusiast turned finance geek (who loves saving money), living in Portland, Oregon with my husband Colton, our kids, and our cat Jericho.

I'm just your average mama sharing about what it is like to be Mrs. Groves and I'm so glad you're following along! I hope you'll grab a cup of coffee and stay a while!

Year One

Year One

I've heard numerous times that the first year of marriage is the hardest. This question really puzzles me because our first year of marriage was so much easier than when we were dating. It could be because I now have my anxiety under control or maybe it's because we see more of each other.Whatever the reason, I'm glad that our first year was as AWESOME as it was. Year two has a lot to measure up to.

Instead of taking one day to celebrate, we extended it to two days. It was the perfect, low-key weekend that we both needed.

Our day started out with some garage sales. I love being able to find gently-used clothes for myself or things that we can sell on eBay. I bought this cool salad dressing bottle that has the recipe for a bunch of different dressings written right on the bottle.

My sister-in-law, Shelby, mentioned how yummy Ruth's Diner was, up Emigration Canyon. We decided to check it out and try the obligatory Bloody Mary. If you know me at all, you know that I love pancakes and waffles. Basically anything that I can put syrup on and consider breakfast, even though it should be labeled as a dessert. Recently I have adopted a gluten-free diet to see if it alleviates my anxiety, so no waffles or pancakes for me, sadly! But, on the bright side, my meal was very delicious!

After breakfast, we took a trip to target and then stopped at Starbucks where I treated myself to the best drink ever...a caramel macchiato. Just look at that caramel sauce dripping down.

The rest of the day was spent relaxing by making dinner and watching our new Netflix show; Between. On Sunday after church we relaxed and ate our year old ice cream. Surprisingly it was pretty delicious! Who knew? Our anniversary weekend was better than I could have asked for and it was all thanks to my wonderful husband. I love you Colton and am so glad that we are doing life together! xoxo!

Coming up for year two is:

Colton applying for grad schools

Possibly moving to another state

and...

our Europe trip!
